The Shire Local Music Festival is born out of the Gymea Open Mic, a key cornerstone of live music in the Sutherland Shire.
The Open Mic event has been running weekly on Tuesdays since February 2024 and has welcomed over 800 performers from over 600 acts in that time. It has seen a wide range of acts from soloists, duos, trios, comedians and full bands all the way up to 9 members!
Our performers come from a wide variety of walks of life, from amateur musicians performing for their first time, all the way up to professional musicians who have toured with the likes of international acts like The Monkees, Oasis and many many more.
The festival is our way of recognising the immense talent that we see by providing paid opportunities to perform; and as a massive thank you to our community that joins us every week, by putting on 3 days of amazing music all for the very reasonable price of…$0, it’s free to attend!
So come along, bring your friends and support acts that are about to take the world by storm, right here at Gymea Hotel, The Home of Live Music in the Shire.
